First SKA Research and Development Meeting

First Meeting of SKA Research and Development

The first meeting of the New Zealand SKA research and development consortium was held on Thursday 18th June. Attendees from all the major New Zealand research institutions as well as Ministry for Economic Development, Ministry of Research Science and Technology and other Government agencies met for the first time to discuss the exciting opportunities that contributing to the Square Kilometer Array (SKA) project would provide for New Zealand.

 

Elections were held for Executive Committee, with New Zealand's most prominent radio-astronomer, Dr Melanie Johnston-Hollitt  elected as Chairperson.
