Research Themes
New Zealand has the capability to contribute significantly to the SKA project. The research and development challenges that must be overcome for the SKA to be successful provide a wonderful opportunity for researchers throughout New Zealand to join an international effort, and to reap the economic benefits that come from technical advances.
SKARD has organised several "Research Themes" focuses on a component of the SKA project. These themes join researchers from New Zealand with specialist expertise in the appropriate technology areas. While SKARD is focusing point for SKA research in NZ, members of each theme are responsible for managing their interaction with Australian and International colleagues.
In addition to the themes listed on this page, the recent paper by Johnston-Hollitt et al. (2009) discusses some of the active, on-going research efforts in NZ being undertaken by SKARD members.
